Dave Shepherd (Shep) Hiroshima - Japan 17-Jun-08
Just an update of my whereabouts.
My wife and I are now living in Hiroshima, Japan.  I am teaching at a
"Super English" School - basically bilingual. About 50/50 is the lessons
but the main language of the school wherever possible is English.
I teach PE or Sport as they call it here and they are interesting.
Baseball is the game and rugby hardly rates even with JK as the coach.
We have less than a year left in my contract and after that who knows.

Jim Greenslade Auckland 11-Oct-06
Greetings all! Well, the reunion in January is shaping up to be a great weekend. It's not too late to register and get your travel and accommodation booked while there are still some cheap options available. Undoubtedly we will have a couple more reunions in future years (a 50th at least) but we know from the experience of other groups that not everyone can make it to those ones. So, the best reunion to go to is the one about to take place ! See you there.
Roger Plumb Auckland 15-Nov-05

Alan (AJ) Thorburn 9-Nov-04
I have come yelling and screaming into the 21st century and finally got onto the internet. What great memories the photos taken back in 72 brought. So young and now with children older than I was in those photos.Looking at the photos taken at the reunion I think I would find it hard to recognise some of the people their although Pedro has not changed much since I last saw him in Whangarei a few years ago. I am still at Thames and about to celebrate my 50th.I have noted the date for the next reunion and hope to be able to attend. If any of the old team ever come down this way don't be afraid to look me up. Regards Alan (AJ) Thorburn

Nigel Crossley 16-Sep-04
Thanks for your efforts in tracking me down, well done. Talk about a blast
from the past its been over 30 years for me and large qauntities of water
under the bridge. As you have now determined I live in Brisbane and that
would make attending any function difficult, as like most of us I have work
and family commitments.

I have visited the webb site and it was quite strange to see names and
comments from people that I regret to say I had not thought of for years.
Its great to see so many guys responding and my regards go out to everyone
and I hope that time and life have left some of that spirit that gave us so
much fun in those good old days.

Jim, thanks again for your efforts and I will keep an eye on the webb site
from time to time. If anyone feels inspired they can contact me on this
email address [Ed: Available from Runion Committee]

All The Best to all you guys.

We are now on target for a 35th anniversary reunion, Woodbourne 18-21 January 2007. Put it in your diary now!
Gary Porteous 5-Apr-04
Gidday Jim,
Just thought I would touch base with you after surfing the net. I am now resident in the Queensland Sunshine Coast and am employed as a Senior Officer with the Qld State Protective Service.
After leaving the RNZAF in mid 1992 I was employed as an Aircrew instructor (ALM) with the United Arab Emirates AF on Buffalo, Casa 212/235 and C130H aircraft.
The family moved to the Sunshine Coast in 1998.

Kindest regards to everybody.

Ivan Playle 14-Apr-03
It looks like you are doing a great job with this reunion. Unfortunately I will not be able to attend due to work and family commitments
over the Easter period. Please pass on my regards to all the guys who do make it. I hope to catch up with some of them in July
perhaps when on holiday. Regards Ian (Ivan) Playle
Colin McIntosh 14-Apr-03
Hope the ACS reunion goes well.  Sorry I will not be able to make it. We have been in NZ since December 2002 and unfortunately need
to be back in PNG in time for the children to start back at school straight after Easter. We fly out of Auckland this Thursday.
Say hi to everyone from me. I have enclosed a recent family photo.
Regards, Colin McIntosh
Dave Shepherd 14-Apr-03
Late but this coming weekend is my 26th Wedding Anniversary and have made alternatives.  Take lotsa photos and record all those
tall stories for those who are unable to make the weekend.  Thanks for keeping The Crew of 72 “together” – we have a pretty good track
record for longevity at least.
Say hello to Woodbourne for me and try not to “terrorise” the locals as much as we did (I think) on our first leave into town.
Regards, Dave Shepherd, "F" Troop
Gary Newlove 14-Apr-03
We'll see you possibly Fri night at the RSA, but definite for Saturday at the Air Show and dinner at the RSA on Saturday night
Marc Roberts 14-Apr-03
I'll be down in Blenheim for most of the weekend and plan to make the Fri meet & greet and hopefully the Sat night both with
my wife (Kerry) as well. Look forward to catching up with everyone.
Rex Denman 13-Apr-03
As much as I would like to be there to see all the old faces (NO PUN INTENDED) and catch up,  I am afraid it can't be this
reunion due to family and new job commitments.  Pass on my apologies to everyone and have a few for me, I will be having
a few  and  thinking of you all.  Best wishes for a great weekend.  Regards,       Rex Denman
P.S.   It has been great to read everyones messages and use the site to contact some old mates I had lost track of, well done.
Just a couple of photos to have a laugh at at the reunion -  myself and my wife Rachel and our boys taken about 3
years ago at my daughters wedding.
Pedro McHardy 13-Apr-03
Pedro rang today. He realised he was "leaving my run a bit late, mate!" but is hoping to get a lift to Blenheim for Easter.
Chris Thorndycroft spoke to the following 3 guys at the end of March
Gary Curtis
At the moment does not think he will make it but will endeavour to try if only for one day
Blue Forsyth
Is also aware of weekend but has family committments for those days and again has looked at site
He passes on his best to all concerned
Pete Menzies
Has heard of events also but has a nieces wedding in Chch but would have liked to be there.
Tony Sellwood 24-Mar-03
Its been many years in between, however nice to hear from you. I had heard of the event but unfortunately I'm not planning on being there.

Would have liked to have been going to Woodbourne, but finances won't allow it at this stage. Hope you all have an enjoyable time there.
Dad went to the Admin reunion to find he was the only WW2 vet there. However he enjoyed himself.
Chris Thorndycroft 20-Feb-03
Will be coming up Friday morning and staying in town give us a yell if you need a hand.
Tim O'Connor 25-Feb-03
Thankyou  for your e-mails over the last year which I have very ungratiously failed to reply to. However they did motivate me
into doing something so I will be attending with my wife Donna.
Murray Smith 9-Feb-03
We were home in NZ in Oct last year and have just brought a house here in Adelaide, so, as much as I would like to come across
to the Reunion and Airshow, I doubt that we could afford it at present.  It would be great to catch up with everyone again,
hard to believe that I've be out for 10 years now.
Brian Graham (Guntha) 4-Feb-03
Was just browsing great to see many names from the past. I'm from the 1970 intake. Now living in Pukekohe.

See you then. Regards. Marc Roberts

Any North Islanders attending who may require accommodation in Wellington prior or
after the reunion, you are welcome to stay at my place.
George Dickinson 10-Sep-02
Great idea for a piss up but unfortunately I will be unable to attend as I will be returning to
NZ in July 03 for my fathers 80th Birthday.   I would like to express my best wishes to all
and would like  to keep in contact so when I do go back in July I can look up a few old mates
I haven't seen in years.   Well as you can tell I'm fine living in Perth and currently working at a
Gold Mine (Darlot) as a Heavy Machine Operator, driving Dozers, Trucks, Graders and Loaders.
Most of the time at present is spent Underground Grading.   Weathers good over here so
I don't think I'll go back to New Zealand to live although I do miss the people (mates etc).
Thanks again for finding me Jim. regards to you and your family.
All the Best

Dear Jim, sorry it has taken me so long to reply to your letter of dec 2001. Yes you have the right
person from 1972. it seem's so long ago. Please excuse the layout as I have only recently been
dragged kicking and screaming into the modern age of computers and am finding it a hard road
learning all about it.
Thanks for getting in touch,

I remember the day, I think it was a saturday we few from chch got onto a
train at chch station ( now a cinema multiplex ) the guys I remeber were ..
Yourself .. Aubrey , and a couple of others.. who's name escapes me ... it
was a real slow trip to Blenheim ...and we were chaperoned by a F/sgt .. who
I think was going up for a dining out ... met at the station by an mt truck
.. a 3 ton Bedford as I recall ... then dropped of at the barracks ..  (
can't believe it was 30 years ago ...)
Chris Thorndycroft 10-Jan-02

Kieran Shanahan 9-Jan-02
Hi Jim
Well strike me dead. Your letter was one hell of a surprise. But I suppose 2 children, and 1 grandchild later,
plus the hair going thinner on top, you have to wonder where the last 30 years have gone.
I have visited the web site, and you have done an excellent job. I presume those locations followed by a
question mark, are those you do not have an address for? Unfortunately I can not help you with
any of the unknown locations. George Russell was working in Wellington a few years ago, but I have not
seen him for a while.
Co-incidentally I will be in Blenheim over the weekend of 19/20 January, so will have to go out to Woodbourne
for a little nostalgia. I do have a few photographs that I will send up to you to add to the collection.
I hope your Avionics Reunion goes well in March. It may be worth putting out feelers to The Intake of 72 for
a location and date for  a get together. I certainly would be a starter, and would not
mind assisting with the arrangements.
Thanks again for your letter Jim, and looking forward to any updates on the web site.
Regards
Kieran Shanahan
David Mitchell  9-Jan-02
Hi Jim
Thanks for the nice letter and the work you have put in. I always wonder where we all got to. I am probably
the only one out here in Gisborne.
Where have the thirty years gone.
Thanks again Jim
Hope to catch you sometime
Paul Cullen 9-Jan-02
Hello James ..
I guess that i am one of the few that are really able or "qualified" to call
you James as opposed to Jim as we go back to pre Airforce days .. at Good
Ole Cashmere High .. remember the radio shack & photo club on the back of B
Block ???
Anyway it was sure a pleasant surprise to get the letter from you ... I have
already looked over the website .. you run ... and it's funny just what
memories come flooding back from seeing some of those faces again ..
Ron Judd 9-Jan-02
Acknowledged that we had his email address correct.
Stan McCluggage 9-Jan-02
Received your letter yesterday. Great to hear from you.
I think a reunion is a great idea depending on when.
Cheers and best wishes
Stan McCluggage.
Harry Harrison 8-Jan-02
Great to see that we are not a lost cause, and to see some names I had forgotten about.  Had a few ales
at my place to celebrate 20yrs, had the following turn up, if my
memory is correct  John Voice, Randy Rainsfield, Wits Webb, Kevin Billings, Dave Shepard, Ron Judd,
and Graham Gilliver. A lot of lies and stories were swapped along with the ale....
I am filling in time with Air NZ, in Auckland, working in the Engine shop.  Have been with Air NZ for 6 years
now after doing my 21 years with the mob.
Look forward to hearing and perhaps seeing some old faces in the future.
Harry (Richard) Harrison
Carey Manson 8-Jan-02
Jim
Got your letter thanx much.
Obviously always interested in reunion potential. Head down arse up "self employed"
and raising 3 kids on my todd doesn't allow much time for organising unfortunately.
Will have to hope for someone else to pick up the cudgel and run with it.
Regards
Carey M
Wayne Kennedy 7-Jan-02
Jim,
Thanks for hunting me down, I would hate to miss out on any reunion, although I must admit that the thirty
years had all but sneaked up and passed me by.
I have been living in Kerikeri for the last six years and still making a living selling trucks. Married twice, three
kids, 1 in The Mount, the other two here, and just discovered a
great recipe to combat the indigestion that started after many years of Airforce training.
Must admit that I havent really caught up with any body since we had the memorial service in Palmerston North
for Yahoo, after he died in Perth.
Pedro just lives down the road and we see each other occasionally but always too busy to stop in the middle
for a beer.
Having just received the e-mail is great and I will get out some of my old photos and e-mail them of to you soon.
Thanks again for the contact and the e-mail list on your site.
Regards  Snow   (Wayne)

Hi Jim
Your letter was an interesting reminder that 30 yrs have slipped by.
I presently work for Safe Air Ltd as an aircraft engineer, still maintaining P3 & C130's. Post airforce days (27 yrs)
I became a qualified Chef with my own restaurant / cafe for a
while, one of my staff wanted to buy the business so I leapt at the chance to go back to wages with nights and
weekends off. Married with two grown children boy in Brisbane and girl just finished a bachelor of applied
 computing. Interested in a reunion
Bye for now

How is it Jim?
Don't know AJ's address but,  last I heard he had a butchers shop in Onerahe (Whangarei).  Pedro McHardie
might be a good bet as he lives just up the road.
Thanks for the e mail Jim.  I will try to hunt down AJ's address and will get back to you.  Do you have any other
elusive addresses?  Cheers Jim,  Mag

Jim Greenslade 29-Aug-00
Hi, I am setting up this web site to hopefully get in
touch with other ACS guys from 1972. If you would like
to email me a 72 and 2000 photo of yourself, a brief
description of what you have been doing since 1972, and
any anecdotes, photos etc from 72 that would be great.
Leave messages in this visitors book for all to see or
email me. BTW I am working in Bioengineering at
University of Auckland. Have been married for 26 years
with 3 children. See my webpage for some other details.
Hope to hear from some names from the past....
